First, we are outfitted with the practice
of prayer. We have been given an amazing gift to
communicate with God through prayer. Our church tries to
make the most of this gift and we incorporate a strong
focus on prayer into all the activites we do together as
a community of faith. We want to be
known for our dependence on faith-stretching, persistent,
fervent, constant prayer.
Second, we are
anchored in the Scriptures. The Bible, the
Holy
Scriptures of the Christian faith, gives us our originating
story and purpose and is for us the primary authority
as to how and why we do things. As much as possible, we
try to ground our methods and practices in these Scriptures.
We want to be known as a church that is nourished by and
deeply anchored in Scriptures in a time when there seems
to be no trustworthy anchors.
Third, we are determined
to respond humbly
to Jesus Christ’s mission in all we do. God
has gone to great lengths to change the world by sending his
son Jesus
Christ to live among his people and accomplish his work of
restoration and reconciliation. Churches
are called to represent God's way of life to the world
and to
work with
him to heal
broken lives. We are eager to do so,
empowered by God in spite of our human limitations
and mistakes.
