Core Christian Beliefs
The following represents the core
of what we teach at our church, all deriving from what God
has revealed about Himself through the Bible:
-
God the Father
is Creator of heaven and earth, sovereign over all creation,
now
and forever.
-
The son of God, Jesus Christ,
is Lord, God in the flesh, and the
Savior of sinful humanity through his death on
the cross and resurrection from the dead.
-
Jesus will come again to judge
the living and the dead and to perfect his church once and
for
all.
-
God, through the Holy Spirit,
comes to live within the believer and empowers the church
for works of service.
-
Christian community
is essential for spiritual nourishment, fellowship,
and growth.
-
Scripture
is the supreme authority for the church, a source
of knowledge and experience of God, and a reliable guide
to Christian living.
All churches arise out of a heritage
of Christian history. Ours derives from the Restoration branch
of Protestant Christianity in America. Particular to this
tradition is the desire to achieve unity with other Christians
by seeking to restore the core beliefs and practices of the
early churches as recorded in the New Testament. Some of the
key
elements of this effort are outlined below:
-
We will work to
restore the Christianity of the Bible in our day
-
We will strive for unity in
matters of faith, freedom in matters of opinion, and in all
things, strive to love one another.
-
Our church is autonomous and
non-denominational.
-
Leadership structure of the church includes elders
and ministry servants.
-
The Lord’s supper (also
called Communion) is observed weekly.
-
We teach that baptism is essential
in the conversion process.
